Preserving nature

I was looking for a way to preserve and solidify the tree leaves I use in my textile explorations. In the course of my reading, I discovered that tree leaves could be solidified by macerating them in a mixture of glycerine and water for several days. So I chose a few leaves that I'd collected over the months, in preparation for winter. Then I took the plunge, under the watchful eye of Annie at Echo-Fab. Last week, I took the leaves out of the liquid, dried them in a towel, then hung them on the “clothesline” of the echo-Fab experiments. Already, the leaves are malleable and strengthened. I can't wait to incorporate them into my textile explorations!
