Our lives are intertwined with the great consensual virtual reality that is the Internet. Our real-life experiences are now almost indistinguishable from our virtual ones. In the computer code that underlies what scrolls before our eyes, strange things are hidden, well-kept secrets. These secrets are like the particles that make up an acrylic tablet, for example. Together, the secrets and the particles possess properties of absolute transparency. Light passes through the material and reflects nothing at all. When the integrity of the plastic is broken, in the same way that a secret code is broken, light ceases to pass freely, leaving us with a glimpse of the material. What was once hidden is now revealed to us.
Project completion stages
- Graphic design // Web content manipulation (Adobe Photoshop CS6, Notepad)
- Vectorization of final images (Inkscape 0.91)
- Engraving and laser cutting on material (Trotec Engraver laser cutting)
